My artwork serves as a reminder to cherish moments in one’s life that may be gone in an instant. I use oil paint and graphite in limited palettes to capture these moments with varying intensity and focus. Much like how a memory fades and only captures important elements, my drawings and paintings use classical techniques to showcase the important details while leaving what is forgotten within negative spaces. I reflect upon and explore the complexities seen within the minute moments in our everyday life.
By playing with figures and representational imagery I create the scenes of everyday life that offer time for introspection. I explore the duality present within life’s highs and lows. The calm moments which we forget to acknowledge as time rushes away from us, moments where we appreciate and show love for what makes our life one that is well lived. In contrast to the grief and sadness that takes over and fills us completely until we are overflowing with emotions and forced to slow down and just be.
